Lake Frances Alberta Bakken Prospect

Mountainview Energy owns and operates 60,000 net acres in the Lake Frances Bakken area. This acreage is in Northwestern Montana in Pondera County. This brings Mountainview’s total acreage in the South Alberta Bakken play to 73,000 net acres. Mountainview Energy is currently adding to this acreage position. The Alberta Bakken is a new, unconventional resource play that is located in Northwestern Montana and Southwestern Alberta. Mountainview Energy is currently evaluating the play for an upcoming drilling program.

Drilling Update

There has been an increase in drilling activity in the area by several large companies on both the Canadian and the U.S. sides of the border. Rosetta Resources (ROSE), Newfield Exploration (NFX), and Anschutz Exploration are currently drilling near our acreage position on the Montana side. According to Rosetta Resources, they believe there is between 13-15 MMboe per square mile of resource in place. (http://ir.rosettaresources.com/presentations.cfm) The Montana Board of Oil and Gas has recorded at least 27 wells that have been permitted, spudded, or drilled by these three companies. Crescent Point (CPG.TO), Murphy (MUR), Bowood (BWD.V), Deethree (DTX.TO), and Shell (RDS-A) are several of the companies drilling on the Canadian Side. Acreage prices have increased significantly on both sides of the border. Other prospective formations include: Mission Canyon (Madison), Lodgepole, Bakken and Three Forks.
